Two-block scheme to contain around 400 homes

PRP has revealed plans to add a 40-storey residential tower to a high-rise cluster in Shoreditch.

The proposals for 241 City Road would replace a petrol station with around 400 build-to-rent homes in two buildings including the tower and a 10-storey block.

A podium linking the two blocks would contain office and community space with the scheme also containing planted terraces, play spaces and green public realm.

The plans have been designed for landowner The Estate Office Shoreditch and revealed as part of a public consultation. A planning application is scheduled for submission later this year with construction expected to start in 2029 if the scheme is approved.

The project team also includes planning consultant DP9 and engagement consultant Kanda.

The tower would grow a tall building cluster around City Road which already includes Foster + Partners’ 36-storey Valencia Tower and 42-storey Carrara Tower, both designed for Berkeley, SOM’s 36-storey Lexicon and UNStudio’s 31-storey Canaletto Tower.
