Luxury build-to-rent tower features London’s highest outdoor swimming pool
Renzo Piano’s luxury build-to-rent tower next to the Shard has reached practical completion.
Previously nicknamed the Shardette, the 27-storey scheme was built by the same team which completed Piano’s neighbouring 310m tower.
Now known as Shard Place, it will include 176 homes for rent and an array of high-end amenities including an orangery, cinema room and London’s highest outdoor swimming pool.
The tower was built by main contractor Mace for development manager Sellar and asset manager Real Estate Management UK Limited, with WSP as structural engineer and Dan Pearson Studio on landscape design.
The building’s homes ranging in size from 425sq ft studio apartments, starting at £700 per week, to 1,500sq ft three-bedroom flats, all furnished by design studio State of Craft.
Three floors have been devoted to 12,000sq ft of amenity space, which also includes a landscaped sun terrace with views of St Paul’s Cathedral, a double-height library, a spa with a sauna and steam room and a gym.
Residents will also have access to a private chef, bespoke housekeeping and laundry provider, and will benefit from a 24 hour concierge and security.
The scheme was originally approved with 148 apartments but underwent a redesign in 2018 which created 28 additional homes by dividing up several four-bed duplex apartments.
Other firms which have worked on the scheme include Turner & Townsend as project manager and Gardiner & Theobald as QS.
