Combined firms to trade as HOK + ROSETTI during merger

HOK has acquired US stadium architect ROSSETTI as part of a strategy to strengthen its position in the sports and entertainment sectors.
Founded in 1969 by Gino Rossetti, Detroit-based ROSSETTI is a major sports venue specialist in the US with its portfolio including Daytone International Speedway in Florida and the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey.
It is currently working on a major transformation of USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Centre in New York, including a refurbishment of the site’s Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The practice, which employs around 90 staff, is led by Rossetti’s son Matt Rossetti, who will become a director of HOK’s sports, recreation and entertainment division.
The two combined firms will be known as HOK + ROSSETTI during the merger and led by directors Nate Appleman, Shannon Bartch, Amy Chase, John Rhodes, Matt Rossetti and Rashed Singaby.
HOK co-chief executive Eli Hoisington said: “HOK has built a strong global sports practice over time. This partnership accelerates that trajectory with a firm whose expertise, culture and client relationships are exceptionally aligned with our own.”
Rosetti added: “We built this firm on a commitment to design excellence and personal client service, and those values are shared completely by HOK.
“Our clients will still work with the same people who know their projects and goals. The difference is that now those people have the backing of a global network with extraordinary depth across disciplines and markets. This is the right partnership at the right time.”
Missouri-based HOK employs around 1,700 people across 27 global offices, including a major hub in London. Its sports projects outside of the US include Roig Arena in Valencia, Spain and the Avicii Arena Modernization in Stockholm, Sweden.
