Project to revamp grade I-listed building expected to take 10 years to complete

Architects are being asked to run the rule over plans to refurbish the grade I-listed Sheffield Town Hall.
The building, which is home to the city council, was designed by London architect Edward Mountford in the Renaissance Revival style and constructed between 1890 and 1897 before being opened by Queen Victoria.
The council has issued a so-called pipeline notice asking for a design team to lead the £36m work from RIBA stages 2 to 7.
As well as an architect, the notice asks for a conservation architect, M&E engineer, fire engineer and structural and civil engineer.
A tender notice will be formally published next January with work set to start next May and is expected to last 10 years.
